It is no secret that denim is an everlasting staple in one's wardrobe. Although styles will continue to evolve and recreate themselves over time, the incorporation of denim in fashion will always be relevant. What I really love about the current state of denim is its versatility. I think often times we tend to confine our association of the fabric with jeans, and jeans only. However, this stereotype has been proven completely incorrect. Recently the textile has been used to create dresses, jumpsuits, jackets, shoes, and everything in between. Even the god forsaken crop top has its own indigo rendition.
I think the construction of the typically feminine pieces, such as dresses and skirts, offers an interesting alternative to the somewhat predictable summer sihouettes we see each year. These garments are usually seen in light and billowing materials, with correlating floral patterns. The denim allows for the pieces to display a much more structured look, but still allowing for a fun and weather appropriate garment.
I also came to the conclusion that this deep indigo shade is going to be a popular wash for this summer's denim collections. I saw the shade repeatedly from numerous designers on numerous forecasting sights. As well as the noticeable repetition on online shopping sites. I think this color is also breaking the summer norm, as the warmer months often bring the prominence of light denim. I will definitely be experimenting with some new denim pieces this summer and I highly recommend you endure this venture with me!
