I believe that experimentation in women’s textiles is far overdue. I often find myself envious of the fabrics used for men’s apparel. In my opinion they always feel more durable, they look more three dimensional, and they also posses a combination of different materials, which adds an element of intrigue. Therefore, I was very pleased to see outerwear displaying all of these qualities for the coming Fall/Winter season. The particular element I chose to discuss is fuzz. I noticed many coats with unique placements of fuzzy fabrics, many emphasizing the pockets.
It seems like this winter there has been a surplus of fur and shearling jackets on the streets. What I like about this coming trend is that it is not an entire garment consisting of one material. So instead of all fur, it can be leather with fuzzy components ass seen both above and below. I think this adds a very aesthetically exciting element to an otherwise predictable jacket.
I couldn’t help but be inspired to style these coats with a funky 70’s vibe in mind. My denim choice would definitely be a pair of blue high-rise flares. And I think it would only be appropriate to get dressed while listening to Groove is in the Heart by the one and only Deee-Lite. I would also pull on my favorite pair of Saint Laurent glitter ankle booties (if I lived in a perfect world where money grew on trees).
